Abstract
It is contemporary common practice to construct full-scale model houses for the sale of apartment housing. The models are used not only for sales promotions but often also for the purpose of meeting and acculturation. However, because model houses are classified as temporary buildings, reasonable criteria for the amelioration of fire risk are not prescribed in the Building Act and other relevant laws. As a result, fires often occur in model houses and can cause widespread damage. This study investigated the state and characteristics of fire occurrence, relevant domestic and foreign safety criteria, and the reality of the state of fire protection system installation in model houses. Conclusions were drawn about the fire-safety problems in these houses, and improvement factors were considered and analyzed. Results indicate that to ensure a reasonable level of fire safety in model houses, improving flame-resistance criteria is necessary by classifying the criteria of egress facility installation appropriate to the spatial structure of model houses, installing fire protection systems with a capacity appropriate to the total floor area of model houses, and improving flame-resistance criteria in consideration of purposes.

요지
최근 공동주택 분양을 위한 견본주택이 활발히 건설되고 있으며 분양을 위한 홍보뿐만 아니라 문화 및 집회용도로 사용되는 경우가 많은 실정이다. 그러나 견본주택은 가설건축물로 분류되고 있는 등 건축법 등 관련 법규정에서 그 화재위험성에 맞는 합리적 기준이 확보되지 않아 그 결과로 화재가 자주 발생하여 대규모 피해를 발생시키고 있는 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 화재발생 현황 및 특성 분석, 국내외 관련 기준 분석, 소방시설 설치실태조사 등을 통하여 견본주택의 화재안전성 측면에서 문제점을 도출하고 그에 따른 개선요소를 분석하였다. 견본주택에서 화재안전성을 합리적으로 확보하기 위해서는 견본주택 공간구조에 맞는 피난시설 설치기준의 세분화, 견본주택 연면적 등 규모에 맞는 소방시설의 설치, 용도목적을 고려한 방염 기준의 보완이 필요한 것으로 분석되었다.
