Analysis of a Fire in a Parked Camping Car

Because of the increase in the popularity of camping and leisure culture, camping car fires have increased consistently with an increase in the number of camping car registrations. In this study, we analyzed the causes of a fire that broke out at midnight in a parked camping car. The camping car was parked with the engine stopped. The results of fire investigation suggest that the fire broke out because the finish of the battery cable outlet of an iron case installed at the bottom of the car was of bad quality. The bad finish resulted in damage to the battery cable coating. Thus, the battery cable conductor made contact with the iron case, resulting in a short-circuit.

레저 및 캠핑 문화의 활성화로 캠핑카 등록대수가 증가함에 따라 캠핑카화재도 증가하고 있다. 이 논문에서는 시동이 꺼진 상태로 주차 중 심야에 캠핑카에서 발생한 화재의 원인을 분석하고 있다. 화재조사 결과 이 캠핑카 화재는 캠핑하우스 하부에 설치된 배터리 철제 케이스의 배터리 케이블 인입구 마감처리 불량으로 배터리 케이블의 피복이 손상되며 배터리 케이블 도체가 철제 케이스와 접촉되어서 합선이 일어나 발생되었다.
